special assessments |
|
Resorts normally issue special assessments to cover major repairs related to natural disasters like hurricanes,
torandos, earthquakes, landslides, volcanoes, or floods. Depending on your contract and HOA covenants, routine
major renovations may not be included in maintenance fees, resulting in a special assessment. Check your
paperwork or contact your resort for more information, but always insist on a clear explanation. |
poor resort condition |
|
It is unfortunate when this happens. Remember, you are a partial owner in the resort, and a member of the HOA.
It is the owners that decide how a resort is managed. The reality is that if the condition of the resort makes
you not want to stay there, most people will probably feel the same as you. This limits interest in your timeshare.
Your best defense is to prepare yourself to accept a lower price.
