This issue is becoming more frequent as timeshare resorts move from a fixed week model to floating intervals or "right to use" (RTU). Floating intervals are great if an owner can book early enough, but remember, you are competing with other owners for prime weeks and not everybody wins. Resorts with shorter seasons are expecially difficult to reserve.

If you reach your frustration limit, it may be time to sell and move on to another resort. Reservation rules vary, and are influenced if the resort is actively selling. If your are considering a floating week, always ask BEFORE you purchase what the resort's policy is regarding availability. There are benefits, but make sure you understand the rules.
